The chapter should consider the role of the PMEL Lead as similar to the Responsible Engineer In Charge, the Health and Safety Officers and the Project Leads. These people all need to travel on a trip, or designate someone qualified to take their place. It is understandable that the same person will not always be able to travel. The PMEL Lead should be trained and responsible for preparing team members for collecting appropriate information on each trip to complete the program monitoring documentation. If they cannot travel, they will assign someone else to be trained and responsible for these tasks.
The maximum travel team size remains at 8 people or fewer, which includes the team’s leadership and mentors.
